About Love & Recovery

What is Love & Recovery?

Love & Recovery is a small, independent shop that makes sobriety cards, recovery gifts and grief cards for people in recovery and the people who love them. Our cards and gifts celebrate sobriety anniversaries (soberversaries), sober birthdays, AA and NA milestones, hard days, fresh starts and complicated loss—with words that are meaningful, honest and sometimes funny as hell.

Who started Love & Recovery?

Love & Recovery was founded by Rene Brookbank. It started with one card: On This Day You Got Sober, an original poem Rene wrote about what it really takes to get sober. More than 4,000 of those cards later, she built a whole shop around the idea that recovery deserves to be celebrated out loud. Read our story.

Are your designs original?

Yes. Our card text, poems and artwork are original Love & Recovery work and are copyright protected. Not Dead. Not Drunk. Makin' Progress.™ is a Love & Recovery trademark. Copyright and intellectual property information.

What size are the cards? Are they blank inside?

Our greeting cards are A2 size (4.25" × 5.5"), printed on heavyweight matte cardstock, blank inside for your own message, and come with a kraft envelope.

Can I buy several cards at once?

Yes—mix and match any 5 greeting cards for $22. It's an easy way to keep a few on hand for meetings, sponsees and the sober milestones that sneak up on you.

Can the On This Day card say "clean" instead of "sober"?

Yes. We can change the wording to On This Day You Got Clean—just leave us a note with your order.

I don't know what to write in a sobriety card. Help?

Do you have personalized sobriety gifts?

Yes. Our personalized sobriety gifts—journals, mugs, candles and ornaments—are printed with a first name and sobriety date. Please double-check spelling and dates before ordering, because personalized items are made just for them.

Do you have gifts for a first sober Christmas?

Yes. Our Joy, Peace & Sobriety personalized ornament, personalized sobriety ornament and Joy & Peace sober Christmas card were made for celebrating the holidays in recovery. Order personalized items early in the season so they arrive in time.

What is a soberversary?

Shipping & Returns

Where do you ship, and how long does it take?

We ship within the United States. Most orders are processed in 2–4 business days, and most U.S. orders arrive 3–10 business days after shipping.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes—free U.S. shipping on card orders over $40. Shipping is charged on personalized items.

What is your return policy?

Unused, unopened, non-personalized items can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Personalized items are final sale unless they arrive damaged or defective, or we made a personalization error. Full details are on our Shipping & Returns page.
