I don’t come here often enough. I live so close, yet I rarely take advantage of the majesty offered to me just a stone’s throw away. Within a one-minute drive or a ten minute walk, I am literally on the beach.

Every time I endure the trek, I vow to do it more often or even daily. And, yet, the days roll by once again without me going back. I see it every day. My business is located across the street from the beach, but I don’t manage to get there.

It doesn’t take long, you know. I could walk over during lunch or in between appointments. But it sometimes feels like a chore.

And, today my dog, Stitch, was staring at me longingly…a look I know too well. His eyes are so expressive.

Please mom, let’s just take an hour and run in the sun, interact with other, frolic in the froth, and enjoy this beautiful day. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

He is so wise.

And, so we go–to the beach. And it’s at the beach where I feel the most connected to the divine.

It’s where the waves wash over my feet with a cool and gentle touch. It reminds me of the spirit of the universe washing over my body and soul.

The water trickles through my toes and into every crevice, freeing me from the sand and debris I have accumulated. It is light and frothy and it awakens my spirit. It’s effervescent.

I just love this analogy. I have the great Pacific booming just a few blocks from my home and across the street from where I work, yet I rarely take in it’s grandeur and serenity.

And sometimes, it’s the same with God. It’s right there…inside of me, yet I don’t tap in. Sometimes it feels like too much work, too much effort…a chore; similar to making a quick trip to the beach. I am becoming more and more disciplined in this regard, but it’s easy to slack off. And, I also realize how easy it is to tap in and find relief.

Yet, every time I do it, every time I tap into source energy, I feel alive and free and supported and loved.

And, so today, I am tapping into spirituality and being washed by the spirit of the universe.
